In metropolitan and Tier-II cities with surging population and cramped area, apartments or flats come across as a popular accommodation option owing to the affordability and safety benefits. These are independent residence units in multi-storey buildings and mostly consist of common amenities for comfortable living such as gymnasium, swimming pool, lawns, etc.

Trimurty Builders

Taking into consideration the emerging needs and living standards of people, the traditional apartment has evolved from conventional models to many new forms. There are a myriad of customised options available for the interested buyers to choose from, from penthouse, loft, duplex or triplex, etc. Let’s have a look at some of the popular forms:

a. Studio apartments, also referred to as efficiency or micro apartments, are the least expensive ones consisting of a single room plus bathroom. The space can be creatively divided into a living room, kitchen and bed-space. These are suitable for bachelors, students or retired individuals, who want a cheap but personal space of their own. With high influx of people migrating to Tier- I and II cities for jobs and studies, studio apartments come across as a viable option.

b. Junior-1 Bedroom apartment, is a studio apartment but featuring an additional small space that can be used as a changing room or walk-in closet.

c. 1, 2, 3-BHK, short for bedroom, hall and kitchen, pretty much explains its architectural form through its name. These have a standard form – a living space and kitchen along with a specific number of bedroom/s with attached bathroom. A more conventional form of apartment, this suits different space requirements and budget limits. 1 or 2-BHK are usually found convenient for newly married couples who initially just need to settle with a plan to upgrade to higher living after sometime.

This list doesn’t end here. One can explore more like garden apartments, convertibles, live/work apartments, etc. With growing urbanisation, apartments are definitely the in-thing with their multiple hassle-free benefits.
