Buying a Flat: Step-by-Step Guide

Buying in a flat is no small investment. Imagine settling into into your new flat and finding out that the plumbing was improperly installed. You cannot just return it like you would return merchandise purchased at a store. This guide will help you make the right decision when you buy your flat in Jaipur.

1. Decide what type of neighborhood you see yourself living, or investing.
Do you imagine yourself living in a gated community? Do you want a 4 BHK flat with playgrounds and nearby grocery stores? Decide your “must-have” criteria

2. Decide on a budget, and what kind of space you need.
Figure out what you can afford while you are in the beginning steps. Do you and your family need a 3 BHK or 4 BHK flat? Or, would you and your partner be comfortable in a 2 BHK flat? Remember, buying a flat is a long-term investment. Think about your future needs as well as your present.

3. With your neighborhood and budget in mind, decide if there are any amenities you need.
Flats in Jaipur come along with certain amenities. While some flats provide security, others highlight their play parks or swimming pools. Make sure your flat will be pet-friendly if you have a pet. Maybe your flat will have paved walkways nearby, for jogging. Decide what you want ahead of time.

4. Search for a flat!
You can finally start your search. Research the Internet for flats. Maybe your friends have a developer to recommend. Take note of flats that interest you and fall within your criteria.

5. Learn about the developer.
After finding several flats of interest, learn about the developer. Visit their other projects and talk to those who have experience with that developer. If there are multiple complaints about construction, it might be wise to cross that developer off your list.

6. Schedule an appointment with the developer.
After you narrow down your decision, schedule a meeting with the developer. Figure out the mode of payment, read the buyer-seller agreement, and decide if this flat is what you want to buy. If you need to, take a couple days to think your decision through.

Once you make a decision, let the developer know you are interested in the purchase! Make an offer and they will be able to walk you through the next steps. Be sure to keep original copies of all deeds and paperwork.
